Margaret Asatrian is a visual artist born in Armenia in 1994. She graduated from the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in painting. Growing up in an artist’s family, she developed a passion for art from a very young age, ultimately choosing it as a career. In her early works, Margaret showed an interest in figurative art, featuring portraits, landscapes, and linear drawings inspired by nature. However, her style later shifted to abstraction as she began producing numerous mixed-media and oil paintings that explore and express her worldview in a non-representational language, conveyed through forms and colors. This approach has consequently become the key aspect of her work. The artist's paintings are created in a bold, expressive manner, where soft, muted colors combined with rich contrasts evoke a sense of movement and vitality. Over the past few years, Margaret's artwork has gained recognition from many art enthusiasts and private collectors both locally and internationally. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and art biennials worldwide, including the 9th Beijing International Art Biennale at the National Art Museum of China, 2022; the 5th Edition of London Art Biennale at Chelsea Old Town Hall, 2021; the International Contemporary Paris Art Fair at Porte de Versailles, 2021; and Armenian Contemporary Art in Kuwait, 2019, among others.
The artist’s works are on permanent display at the Gallery Milmar International in Carmel-by-the-Sea (CA) as well as at the Gala Art Gallery in her hometown, Yerevan.
She has been a member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia since 2017.
In 2023, Margaret had her first solo show, titled 'Living Colors,' at the Gala Art Gallery.

Artist's Statement My art explores various aspects of both the objective and non-objective worlds, expressing them through shapes and colors in an intangible, abstract realm. Trusting my intuition during the creative process, I aim to share my personal experiences and impressions using a non-verbal language designed to offer a new perspective on life, reality, and the complex manifestations of human emotions. I typically select colors intuitively and start each new piece with a few primary colors applied in spontaneous brushstrokes. I focus, therefore, on the compositional structure of the artwork, adding contrasts, juxtaposing forms of different proportions, using lines to outline the shapes, etc. The subsequent painting stages require concentration and a more contemplative approach, with my main goal being to remove unnecessary elements and highlight the essential forms that convey the core idea or emotion.
